Hay nueve tipos de acoplamientos de resorte serpentino, a saber, tipo de instalación radial con carcasa JS (tipo básico), tipo de instalación axial con carcasa JSB, tipo de conexión de doble brida JSS, tipo de conexión de brida simple JSD, tipo de eje intermedio SJS, tipo de alta velocidad JSG, tipo JSZ con rueda de freno, tipo JSP con disco de freno, tipo de seguridad JSA, etc.
La estructura principal del acoplamiento de resorte serpentino está compuesta por dos semiacoplamientos, dos semicubiertas, dos anillos de sellado y láminas de resorte serpentino. Transmite el par al incrustar el resorte serpentino en las ranuras dentadas de los dos semiacoplamientos. El acoplamiento incrusta la lámina de resorte serpentino en las ranuras dentadas de los dos semiacoplamientos para lograr la conexión entre el eje motriz y el eje conducido.
